BaySUP turns up and blows out!

BU sports lab physiological testing Nov 14.

Bring on the experiments!

Ready to Ride!

In August this year Bournemouth University (BU) contacted the BaySUP posse to see if we wanted to take part in some lab testing again with them. It’s a great opportunity and the guys and girls that took part last year found it fun and beneficial, so we went for it again as we seem to like pain and discomfort!

(Re)starting from scratch!

Somewhere round here are some of my bits that needed fixing!

Somewhere round here are some bits that needed fixing!

Ever since my last SUP race in late August, I’ve backed off paddling to rest and recover. I haven’t been sitting on my arse tho, I’ve doing light cross-training such as cycling, swimming and martial arts. This keeps up your base fitness, without stressing the body too much, especially the areas that need to recovery from the racing season, such as the shoulders, back and hips.

Super Hydration! Coconut and Cherry

Lewis likes it too!

Lewis likes it too!

I found it brilliant to use anytime, but especially before or after training. Noticed a more rapid and complete effect of hydration and recovery than water or other hydration products, definitely felt less fatigued than before I took it. Continue reading

Reflections of a SUP racing year

Some of the trophy haul!

Some of the trophy haul!

Totally stoked! An amazing season of sporting achievements for me, a reflection of all the hard work and quite a lot of uncontrollable elements (luck!) going my way. Still hard to believe….started with 2nd overall in our Frostbite series in April, through to 3rd in the last UK SUP clubs race in the Gower mid-August. Total series points meant 3rd overall and 1st Masters in the UK SUP clubs’ 10 race series (12’6″)!!

Get Your Beast-On! Pre workout product review

SUPER CHARGED: PRE WORKOUT(Black current)

Product Review

Hold on tight!

Great for waking your tired and sleepy body early in the morning or when it’s fatigued from hard training. When paddling, (surf or SUP) muscle contractions seem to stay stronger with less fatigue for longer, very noticeable in sessions over an hour, but felt more shattered at the end of it!! A terrific third to top it all!

SUP Gower-The 10th and last stage of the UK SUP Club’s series.

Over the moon! I've done it!

Over the moon! I’ve done it!

My family and I had got to Port Eynon on the Thursday before, for a little holiday as we had time and had been to this lovely Gower spot before. Fun bit of camping with a little paddle training was had and started to see some of the other racers arrive on Friday afternoon.
Even though I was physically prepared for this race, my mind wasn’t filled with the focus and desire for peak performance. Continue reading

BaySUP BOP, Bloomin’ Brilliant! 3rd!!

Flying towards the beach

Flying towards the beach

This was the 6th race for me in the UK SUP clubs series, so really looking for some good points to add to my series total. I’d been away in Pembrokeshire on a great family holiday for the week before this one and I really backed off on the training due to feeling worn out from lots of races and training since February.
