ISA Online courses continue!

On the back of running the first International Surfing Association (ISA) Judging and Surf Coach online courses, we successfully ran the Premiere ISA Flat-Water Stand-Up   Paddle Board (FWSUP) Coaching course last weekend.

The Scottish Surfing Federation (SSF) engaged Surf Steps Water Training Academy to run the course for 6 of their members in lock-down all over Scotland, ably assisted by Ben Kewell from Glide Surf School. We were fortunate to also have viewers from all over the globe, including representatives from the surfing Federations of Denmark and India.

Our new course resources and structure, based on feedback from the other online courses, allowed us to deliver the FWSUP course in a more enjoyable and satisfying format.

Goa: The location lowdown!

The Surfing Federation of India is running International Surfing Association Water Safety, Surf and SUP instructor courses this November.

Course host and resident ISA course presenter Cedric Reynard made the video below capturing the atmosphere and experience of a retreat they hosted at Waterwalk, Goa, earlier this year. Check it out to get the location lowdown!

Cedric and International presenter Andy Joyce from Surf Steps are delivering the courses. The Schedule is as follows:

  • November 11th – 12th ISA Flat Water SUP Course
  • November 13th – 14th – ISA/ILS Aquatic Rescue Course (Mandatory course to qualify as an ISA coach if you don’t hold another ILS recognised rescue/1st aid award)
  • November 15th – 16th – ISA Level 1 Surf Instructor Course
  • November 17th – 18th – ISA Level 2 Surf Instructor Course

I went to Iran last year in April, so had a strong knowledge and experience base to readily accept another offer from the Iranian Surfing Association to run some courses this year. But this time for longer, for more courses and see new places!

Back in March, Norwegian friends and SUP organisors Kjell and Eilen got in touch: “We’re looking at running some courses in the Lofoten’s, would you like to run them? The location we’re looking at is Unstad beach, a top surf destination in the Lofoten Islands, is that ok? ”

Sunny Studies at Surf Steps

SE/ISA Level one surf coach course (3-4 May) & SLSGB surf coach rescue course (5-6 May), Bournemouth, England

The courses were held at Surf Steps Surf and SUP academy of excellence in 4 days of record early May tempretures in Bournemouth, Dorset, England.

11 students, based in Europe, spent the 4 days developing their coaching and learning essential rescue and first aid skills, with International trainer Andy Joyce.

The courses enable the students, once qualified, to coach Surfing sessions for beginner to intermediate students. The awards have worldwide recognition.
